About HACCP Certification

HACCP certification may be required in certain industries or for specific projects. HACCP certification means – Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points of Food Production. For organizations involved in the production, processing, handling, and trading of food or beverages, it is important to have an effective food safety management system based on the requirements of the international standard ISO 22000. The Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) system is a preventive approach to food safety that addresses the entire food chain from farm to fork.

The HACCP system has been internationally recognized as the most effective food safety management system and it has been incorporated in the Codex Alimentarius, which is an international food safety standard and is the basis for most regional food safety standards in the world.

The primary objective of HACCP Certification in Sri lanka is to safeguard public health and protect consumer interests by minimizing or eliminating hazards in foods produced using a Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) system.

HACCP Certification

The following HACCP Certification guidelines will help you with understanding the stages involved in the certification process:

STEP ONE

Organization Profile, Document review, and Audit Preparation. This is done as a first step for getting HACCP Certification in Sri lanka. The audit checklist will be shared to enable you to prepare for your internal audits before attending the location audit at your premises.

It involves the following:

Document Review – Your company’s policies, procedures, and practices against the requirements of ISO 22000 will be reviewed.

Audit Preparation – Detailed audit preparation including submission of your organization profile, site plan, and contact details of key personnel will be required.

STEP TWO

On-Site HACCP Certification Audit. The audit will be conducted by a team of highly qualified auditors under the guidance of our Lead Auditor.

The main objectives are to determine if your management system is capable of continual improvement and has all elements necessary for delivering safe products. The following aspects are covered during the audit:

Internal Audit – Internal audits are an important part of any HACCP system and are conducted by your own organization to ensure that all food safety hazards are identified and controlled.

HACCP System – A comprehensive review of your company’s HACCP system will be carried out to ensure that it meets the requirements of ISO 22000.

Product Specifications – Product specifications including ingredients, processing methods, suppliers and hygiene record review will be examined.

STEP THREE

Preparation of Final HACCP Certification Report. This report is your assurance that all non-conformities have been resolved by the organization. It is prepared based on the findings of the internal audits, observations made during the assessment audit, and corrective actions taken by organizations.

STEP FOUR

Certificate Issuance- On successful completion of the certification process, your company will be issued with a HACCP Certificate which is valid for 3 years.

Renewal of Certification – To maintain your certification, an annual surveillance audit will be conducted to ensure that your management system is still in compliance with the requirements of ISO 22000.

In addition to certification, we also provide consultancy services for Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP).
